4 Day/ 3 Night accommodations at world renowned French Lick Resort.

$2000 in complimentary golf, courtesy of TeeOff.com.

All part of the Hole-In-One prize package.

That’s still not all!

Dixon Golf will be on site with free golf balls and other items and they will have their own challenges and prizes including golf balls and watches and a chance to participate in the finals of the Fiesta Bowl Million Dollar Hole-In -One Challenge!

Spread the word! If you know of any business or other entity that would like to participate as a sponsor or provide silent auction items, there is still time. The event will be held October 20, at Stonebrook Golf Club. We still have room for golfers, as well, but the slots are going fast!

The Trophy!

I just couldn’t wait to show everybody the trophy that Kevin Marchetti, at Renaissance Man,  created for our Sheriff’s Challenge Golf Match. It is awesome, if I do say so myself. It incorporates the GAL Program logo with a Sheriff’s badge base. It will make a great showpiece for any Sheriff’s lobby! Amy Cordray, a 30+ year GAL volunteer, says it symbolizes the Sheriff’s Department upholding the laws on behalf of the children. What a great interpretation, I have to agree. Please remember to mark the date –

October 20 at High Noon! Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace.

Back to Business

Well, we survived Irma in our stretch of the Panhandle with a little breeze and mist sandwiched with some of the best weather of the year so far! Our thoughts and prayers go to the rest of Florida. There were many GAL families in harms way and many children experiencing a hurricane for the first time. Please take a moment, as we continuously do, to consider those children and families and reach out in a tangible way. If you have any questions about your next step, feel free to call me or get in touch with the program folks to find out what the needs are.

By the way, keep an eye out for these billboards. They are being displayed in our area this month!

A friend sent these to me today. A Navy P-3 in the eye of Hurricane Irma. Incredible pictures.

Hurricane Irma update

The most recent track information for Hurricane Irma indicates a northerly track after reaching the northern coast of Cuba. It doesn’t appear that the Northwest Florida area will be adversely affected at this time. If you went to the store in the last couple of days you will have noticed that people have definitely been taking preparation seriously. If you have any preparation recommendations please let us know!

It’s going to get busy at the beginning of next week, so please prepare yourselves now. There are two systems that bear watching. Of course our hope is that they don’t come here, but wherever they go it will be potentially devastating. Make sure you consider a plan for evacuating and a plan for staying. Either option requires some thought. Contact us if you think you need some help with your plan. (david@nwfgal.org)

Hello NWFGAL Foundation Volunteers!

It’s a new day at the Foundation thanks to the unselfish response of our program volunteers to join the Foundation as members. We are thrilled and expect this new collaboration to help the children in our circuit in ways we hadn’t imagined. The addition of this blog is to help facilitate communication for our members and a place to exchange ideas on where the Foundation can do the most good.

If you haven’t had a chance yet, I encourage you to view the website and, in particular, take a look at your Board. These hard-working volunteers have placed this Foundation on solid footing to go forward and accomplish the mission stated in our bylaws.

Please know that your ideas and suggestions for the Foundation from fundraising activities to website recommendations are very welcome. We have several committees that would be happy to welcome you! Don’t be shy!
